Shimara Carlow was born in the remote coastal area of West Cork in Southern Ireland. A childhood fascination for collecting shells, stones, mermaid’s purses, feathers, and seed pods found along the seashore has been the inspiration for her work.
After studying jewellery making in Glasgow and setting up a studio in London, Shimara relocated to Melbourne, where she now has a studio in her leafy back yard. Collections include Honesty, Acorn Cup, Daisy, wrap and Gum nut, constructed from cast, fabricated and in some cases reticulated sterling silver with 18ct gold detail.
"All my ranges are highly textured and tactile, and with each piece being handmade, every piece is completely unique." Shimara Carlow
