Brendan Eilola’s glass practice focuses on extending the visual field beyond the solidity of the piece, combining various forms of glass to emphasize the dynamic effects of transmitted, reflected, and refracted light. Natural or directed light generates both ephemeral and repeatable moments through the lenses created within the works.
Brendan gravitates towards organic curvilinear forms as reflected in the flowing nature of the medium, though employs rectilinear elements and forms to emphasise this contrast. Depth is gradually achieved through layering and incremental thickness development, with each layer meticulously cold worked and refired prior to kiln-forming the final object.
