Go to the shopCraft Queensland was established in 1970 to champion craft practices across the state and expanding in 2007 to include designers of objects, furniture, and lighting. This evolution led to our rebranding as artisan, a creative social enterprise dedicated to servicing and showcasing Queensland’s finest makers and designers from emerging to established.
artisan hosts exhibitions, community social workshops, professional development and residency opportunities and our retail store. You can visit us Wednesday to Saturday at our purpose-built premise in King Street, Bowen Hills houses our main gallery, retail showcase and a dedicated workshop space.
Queensland is a Makers' State - artisan continually collaborates across Queensland to honour represent the breadth and depth of emerging, developing and established talent here. When you collect, commission or curate with artisan, you are directly supporting the makers and designers of Queensland.
To elevate Queensland’s unique craft and design talent to national and international prominence by building sustainable pathways and enduring connections.
We acknowledge the Turrbal and Yuggera peoples as the Traditional Owners of the land upon which artisan gallery and workshops operate.
artisan commits to actively championing and elevating Queensland’s First Nations craft and design practitioners through ethical partnerships, sustainable economic pathways, and culturally informed programming.
