Jen Eales

Meanjin/Brisbane, Queensland

Jen is a Queensland-based artist whose practice celebrates the beauty of imperfection and the poetry of found or upcycled materials. A graduate of Queensland College of Art and Design (QCAD), she earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Jewellery and Small Objects in 2015, laying the foundation for her distinctive approach to contemporary craft.

At the heart of Jen's practice is a deep commitment to sustainability and material exploration. Each piece emerges through an intensely manual process, transforming collected objects and upcycled materials into wearable art and sculptural pieces. Her work stands as a deliberate counterpoint to mass production, with every item bearing the unique marks of its handcrafted journey.

Jen's jewellery collection features meticulously hand-cut and sawn waste metals, which she artfully combines with bio resin, metal and other salvaged materials. Her aesthetic playfully navigates between vibrant colour statements and refined neutral palettes, creating pieces that are both bold and versatile.

Beyond jewellery, Jen's creative vision now extends to sculptural functional objects including totemic vases, catchalls, and candy bowls. These pieces, available exclusively through artisan, showcase her evolving exploration of form and material.
