Timber
Thorneside, Queensland
Rod started woodturning in the late eighties when his wife bought him a lathe for his birthday. Up until then he enjoyed crafting timber furniture as a self-taught artisan. Having a lathe added a new dimension to timber craft practice.
In the following year, Rod has completed three woodturning courses at TAFE. Over time he has added new tools and machinery to his home workshop which has allowed him to expand the range of his timber artworks.
Rod works with a variety of timber materials that are either salvaged, purchased or upcycled to design pieces that are both decorative and functional.
