Dai Li was born in Sichuan, China in 1987. She moved to Australia in 2009 and now lives and works on the Sunshine Coast.

Dai’s artworks are drawn from everyday life and the art and culture of the world at large. Her work focuses on people’s emotional states, how the manifest externally, and the mystery of how they arrived at this point.

Dai shares her work in galleries across Australia, with pieces held in both public and private collections here and overseas.

“My inspiration comes from everything: myself, people that I know, random people in random places, movies, books and so on. Behind all the freeze-frame faces come all sorts of emotions and stories. Capturing the subtlety of different emotions and their expression is the most interesting part.” Dai Li
