Jess Hall is a multi-disciplinary artist working with painting, drawing, embroidery and textiles. Training as a painter, printmaker and as a textile designer, Jess completed first class Honours at Queensland College of Art (2005), a Master of Fine Art at VCAM (2010) and the Bachelor of Textiles (Design) (2021) at RMIT. The work explores liminal spaces between art and craft and art and science; looking to these influences to explore tactility and materiality.
Imaginary Science is a collection of silk scarves based on Jess’ paintings that have been re-imagined as textile designs. The scarves are digitally printed onto silk crepe de chine and are designed, printed and hemmed in Australia. The designs are a celebration of the imagination and nature, and reflect a love of painting, drawing and pattern.
