Two compelling exhibitions unite to celebrate Queensland's First Nations craft and design practices. Bringing together five distinguished Art Centres - Hope Vale, Girringun, Yalanji Arts, BADU, and MOA - showcasing contemporary works that honor traditional knowledge and cultural connections. From the rainforests of Far North Queensland to the Torres Strait Islands, this exhibition presents a rich tapestry of ceramics, textiles, and fibre works, each piece reflecting deep ties to Country and community.
Showcasing in the Small Gallery space, a selection of wearable pieces that merge traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design. Using materials ranging from emu feathers and native timbers to metals and clay, these works tell powerful stories of cultural continuity and artistic innovation.
Together, these exhibitions offer a unique glimpse into the vibrant artistic practices of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander makers, demonstrating the continued evolution and strength of First Nations creative expression.
