“Weaving Stories” – Friends of Australia Pavillion Event establishes direct relationships between Australian-Japanese craft institutions.

Objective: The market development project aims to establish direct relationships between Australian-Japanese craft institutions, create pathways for artistic knowledge exchange, and strengthen Queensland's sister city relationships through cultural collaboration while showcasing Queensland's talented makers and designers on an international platform.

This project provides two types of opportunities for up to 20 Queensland makers and designers who are developing, mid-career or establishing.

Opportunity 1

artisan will promote examples of your work on loan or consignment with a presentation of your artist biography. Please note the number of works is dependent on size, weight and materiality of the works.

Opportunity 2

Successful applicants will join artisan in Osaka for a cultural industry specific VIP Expo event hosted in the Australian Pavilion on October 7th and a series of cultural and skills exchange meetings with key Japanese stakeholders in the craft and design sector. The trip is estimated to be up to 7 days and will be including return travel, accommodation and a per diem. Return flights will depart from Brisbane or Cairns. There are up to five places available for successful applicants.

Please note, a professional craft and design specific panel of assessors will review the applications and nominate which of the two opportunities you may be awarded.
