In My Shoes is a series of handbuilt ceramic bird sculptures, each representing a native Australian species and perched in its own pair of high-heeled shoes. Whimsical and tender, these works blend humour with personal storytelling — drawing on the artist’s childhood memories of dressing up in heels from the family costume cupboard as an early form of self-expression.
The pairing of birds with footwear becomes a playful yet poignant symbol of identity, transformation, and the joy of being unapologetically oneself. Each sculpture is mounted on wood and finished with underglaze colour and gloss, celebrating the artist’s ongoing relationship with queerness, creativity, and the natural world.
