Information
These saggar pieces are hand-thrown on the potters wheel, before being trimmed and extensively burnished with a stone over multiple days. They are then biscuit fired before being wrapped with raw materials (iron, copper, cobalt, steel wool, sawdust, etc). In the second firing, these materials melt, burn, fume and react with one another as they heat up, creating unique and sometimes unexpected colours and patterns. With an elegant shape as a canvas, these pieces draw you in with great depth and complexity, evoking the elemental processes in which they are formed. *These pieces are low-fired, and therefore remain porous.
