Information
From clay bodies to glaze ingredients and colourants, modern ceramics practice cannot be disentangled from mining; it is an inherently extractive practice. This series of pieces from my resiency with artisan seeks to explore the transformative possibilities of using waste and byproducts from the geological exploration and mining industires in North Queensland to create ceramic glazes, as well as clay bodies. I have also worked to imbue each one with a sense of where they were created with the addition of ash from the hospitality industry in Brisbane.
Note: All available-for-purchase works exhibited in 2026 UNLEASHED+ can be collected after the exhibition closure in November.
