While his collection to be exhibited in ULNEASHED+ is a series of standalone objects, they are more accurately a range of experiments that explore forced perspective through reflection and depth. The mirror-polished metal elements are combined with ceramic forms to create shifting readings depending on viewpoint. With the larger vases, I explored the impression of depth on a flat surface using gradients of 16–20 coloured clays. Nothing is glazed. Only coloured clay is used. This work sits outside conventional ceramic and design approaches, where objects are usually treated as functional or decorative forms understood in a single way. Instead, forced perspective and reflection construct visual outcomes that wouldn’t otherwise exist, or directing attention to specific points within the composition.
