These terms and conditions (“terms”) govern membership of the artisan associates program (“program”) operated by Craft Queensland Limited trading as artisan, ABN 54010052874 (“artisan”, “we”, “us”, “our”).

1.1.   By joining the program, you (“member”, “you”, “your”) agree to be bound by these terms. If you are joining on behalf of an organisation (Peer tier), you warrant that you have authority to bind that organisation and that these terms apply to it.

1.2.   These terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia. Any dispute arising under these terms is subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Queensland.

1.3.   artisan may update these terms from time to time. We will notify members of material changes by email. Continued membership after notification constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

In these terms, the following words have the meanings set out below.

Student Maker

3.1.   The Student Maker tier is open to individuals who are currently enrolled in an accredited course of study in craft, design, or a related discipline at a recognised Australian educational institution.

3.2.    artisan may request evidence of enrolment at any time. If satisfactory evidence is not provided within 14 days of request, artisan may transfer the member to the Professional Maker tier and apply the difference in annual fee.

3.3.    Student Maker membership is available to individuals only; organisations are not eligible for this tier.

Professional Maker

3.4.    The Professional Maker tier is open to individuals who are actively engaged in the practice of craft or design, whether on a full-time, part-time, or emerging professional basis.

3.5.    Professional Maker membership is available to individuals only.

Collector

3.6.    The Collector tier is open to individuals who are enthusiasts, supporters, or collectors of contemporary craft and design. No practice qualification is required.

3.7.    Collector membership is available to individuals only.

Peer

3.8.    The Peer tier is open to organisations including galleries, government, educational institutions, cultural organisations, guilds, associations and businesses with a genuine connection to the craft and design sector.

3.9.    A Peer member may nominate [2] staff members only to receive the individual benefits described for the Professional Maker tier. Nominated individuals must be current employees or contractors of the member organisation. The organisation must notify artisan of any change in nominated individuals.

General

3.10. artisan reserves the right to decline or cancel a membership application at its sole discretion.

3.11. Members must be aged 18 or over or have the consent of a parent or guardian.

4.1.   Annual fees at the date of these terms are set out below. All amounts are in Australian dollars and are inclusive of GST where applicable.

4.2.   artisan reserves the right to vary annual fees. Fee changes will take effect at the next renewal following at least 30 days’ notice to the member.

4.3.   Fees are due and payable at the time of joining or renewal.

4.4.   artisan accepts payment by credit card and direct debit. Payment processing is handled by Stripe.

4.5.   All fees are non-refundable except as required by the Australian Consumer Law or as set out in clause 7 of these terms.

5.1.   Benefits associated with each tier are as published on the artisan website from time to time. artisan will use reasonable endeavours to provide a summary of current benefits on the membership page.

5.2.   Benefits are personal to the member and, except as provided in clause 3.12 (Peer nominated individuals), are not transferable to another person or organisation.

5.3.   artisan reserves the right to modify, add, or remove benefits at any time. artisan will provide at least 30 days’ notice of any material reduction in benefits. Where a material reduction occurs during a membership year, the member may cancel their membership and receive a pro-rata refund of any unexpired portion of the annual fee.

5.4.   Benefits described as “by invitation” (including exhibition and curated showcase opportunities) are at artisan’s sole discretion, by invitation or application. Membership does not guarantee participation in any particular program, event, or exhibition.

5.5.   Member discounts apply to fees charged by artisan directly. Third-party providers may offer their own terms and artisan makes no warranty as to the availability or continuity of discounts from third parties.

5.6.   Access to the artisan maker directory is subject to artisan’s directory policies and design brief. artisan may edit or remove listings that do not comply with those policies.

5.7.   MADE2026 and other named events are subject to their own ticketing terms. Member discounts on events must be redeemed by the deadline published for each event. artisan is not liable for a member’s failure to redeem a discount within the specified period.

6.1.   Membership is for a membership year and will automatically renew unless the member opts out.

6.2.   artisan will send a renewal reminder to the member’s registered email address [30] days before expiry. It is the member’s responsibility to ensure their contact details are current.

6.3.   If a member does not opt out by the expiry date, membership and access to member benefits continues. artisan will not be liable for any loss arising from a member’s failure to opt out or where they have not paid their fee for the next year.

6.4.   A member may cancel their membership at any time by notifying artisan in writing to coordinator@artisan.org.au. Cancellation takes effect from the date artisan acknowledges the notice.

6.5.   Except as provided in clause 5.3 (material reduction of benefits), clause 7.4 (change-of-mind policy), or as required by the Australian Consumer Law, no refund of the annual fee is payable on cancellation during a membership year.

6.6.   A member may change their tier at any time during a membership year by contacting artisan. If the new tier carries a higher annual fee, the member must pay the difference on a pro-rata basis. If the new tier carries a lower annual fee, the difference will be credited to the next renewal.

7.1.   The artisan associates program is a subscription to a suite of benefits and programs offered by artisan. Membership of the program does not confer membership of Craft Queensland Limited within the meaning of the company’s constitution. artisan associates are not recognised as members of the company for constitutional purposes and accordingly have no rights as members of the company, including (without limitation) no right to:

7.1.1.attend or vote at any general meeting of Craft Queensland Limited, including the Annual General Meeting;

7.1.2.receive notice of, or participate in, any resolution of members of the company; or

7.1.3.any entitlement arising under the Corporations Act 2001 (Cth) or artisan’s constitution as a member of the company.

7.2.   The relationship between artisan and an artisan associates is a commercial subscription arrangement. These terms govern that arrangement. Nothing in these terms, in any program material, or in the use of the word “member” or “membership” in relation to the program creates or implies constitutional membership of Craft Queensland Limited.

7.3.   artisan uses the terms “member” and “membership” in these terms and in program communications as convenient shorthand for a participant in the artisan associates program. Those terms carry no legal significance beyond the subscription arrangement described in these terms.

7.4.   artisan offers a voluntary 14-day change-of-mind period as a goodwill measure. This is not a statutory cooling-off right. If you join the program online and change your mind within 14 days of activation or renewal, you may request a full refund of the annual fee, provided you have not redeemed any member benefits during that period.

7.5.   Where benefits have been redeemed during the 14-day period, artisan may deduct the reasonable value of those benefits from any refund.

7.6.   To request a refund under this policy, contact artisan at coordinator@artisan.org.au within 14 days of activation, quoting your name and membership number. artisan will process eligible refunds within [14] business days.

7.7.   This change-of-mind policy does not limit any rights you may have under the Australian Consumer Law where a consumer guarantee has not been met.

8.1.   Members are responsible for updating their contact details and ensuring they are accurate.

8.2.   Members must not use their membership or any member benefit for commercial purposes other than as expressly permitted by their tier.

8.3.   Members will not disparage or bring artisan into disrepute.

8.4.   Members must not misrepresent their membership status or tier or use membership benefits for purposes other than those for which they were provided.

8.5.   Members must comply with all policies of artisan applicable to the relevant benefit, event, or program, as published on the artisan website from time to time.

8.6.   Members must treat artisan staff, volunteers, contractors, and fellow members with respect. artisan will not tolerate harassment, discrimination, or abusive conduct in connection with any artisan program or event.

9.1.   artisan may terminate a membership with immediate effect if a member:

9.1.1.is in breach of these terms and has not remedied the breach within 14 days of written notice;

9.1.2.has provided false or misleading information in their membership application or in connection with their membership;

9.1.3.has engaged in conduct that, in artisan’s reasonable opinion, is harmful to artisan, its staff, volunteers, members, or reputation; or

9.1.4.has acted in a manner inconsistent with artisan’s values as a not-for-profit organisation supporting Queensland craft and design.

9.2.   Where a membership is cancelled under clause 8.5, no refund of the annual fee is payable.

10.1.                 All content, branding, and materials produced by artisan in connection with the program (“artisan IP”) remain the intellectual property of artisan or its licensors. Nothing in these terms transfers any ownership of artisan IP or any other intellectual property rights of artisan to a member.

10.2.                 Where artisan provides promotional support for a member (including via social media or directory listings), the member grants artisan a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to use images, descriptions, and biographical information provided by the member for the purpose of promoting the member’s work and artisan’s programs. This licence continues for the duration of membership and artisan will cease use of the member’s material within a reasonable time following cancellation or expiry.

10.3.                 A member must not use artisan’s name, logo, or “artisan associates” branding in any way that implies a formal partnership, endorsement, or affiliation beyond membership, without artisan’s prior written consent.

11.1.                 artisan collects and handles personal information in accordance with its Privacy Policy, available at artisan.org.au/pages/privacy-policy, and in compliance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.

11.2.                 By joining the program, you consent to artisan using your contact details to send you information about your membership, program benefits, artisan events, and other communications relevant to Queensland craft and design. You may opt out of marketing communications at any time by following the unsubscribe link in any email or by contacting artisan at cooridinator@artisan.org.au.

12.1.                 If a member has a complaint or dispute in connection with these terms or the program, they should raise it with artisan in the first instance by phone, via the complaints form on the artisan website, or by emailing ceo@artisan.org.au, providing reasonable detail of the matter.

12.2.                 artisan will use reasonable endeavours to acknowledge the complaint within five business days and use reasonable endeavours to resolve it within thirty days.

12.3.                 Where a complaint or dispute is raised via social media, artisan will respond promptly and, where appropriate, invite the member to continue the matter through the channels in clause 11.1 so it can be resolved in accordance with this clause.

12.4.                 If the dispute is not resolved through that process, either party may refer it to mediation with a mediator agreed between the parties, or, failing agreement, a mediator appointed by the Resolution Institute, before commencing court proceedings.

12.5.                 Nothing in this clause prevents a party from seeking urgent interlocutory relief from a court of competent jurisdiction at any time.

13.1.                 To the maximum extent permitted by law, artisan’s total liability to a member in connection with these terms or the program (whether in contract, tort, or otherwise) is limited to the annual fee paid by that member in the relevant membership year.

13.2.                 artisan is not liable for any indirect, consequential, special, or punitive loss or damage, including loss of revenue, loss of opportunity, or loss of anticipated benefits.

13.3.                 Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any right or remedy a member may have under the Australian Consumer Law or any other non-excludable statutory guarantee.

13.4.                 artisan does not guarantee the continuity of any particular benefit, program, or event. artisan’s liability for cancellation of a program or event is limited to a pro-rata refund of fees paid for that specific item (where separately charged).

14.1.                 These terms, together with the published benefit schedule and any supplementary policies referred to herein, constitute the entire agreement between artisan and the member in relation to the program. You will not be able to rely on any other representations or prior agreements related to the subject matter.

14.2.                 If any provision of these terms is found to be invalid, unlawful, or unenforceable, that provision will be severed and the remaining provisions will continue in full force.

14.3.                 artisan’s failure to enforce any right under these terms does not constitute a waiver of that right.

14.4.                 Members indemnify artisan for any material loss incurred as a result of any breaches of these membership terms.

14.5.                 Notices to artisan under these terms must be sent to coordinator@artisan.org.au. Notices to members will be sent to the email address registered to the member’s account.

14.6.                 These terms do not create any employment, contractor, partnership, or joint venture relationship between artisan and a member.
