"Part of my 'Pearls' body of work.
Pearls are the result of an oyster's defense against a foreign irritant, a natural response that humanity has co-opted into an industry of commodification. In this theme, vessels are altered with uneven, ragged surfaces distorted by spherical, pearl-like forms. These growths appear to swell beneath the "skin" of the vessel, evoking both beauty and discomfort."
