The stark white sculptural forms function as signifiers of bleached coral: not dead, but in serious distress. Using porcelain, I draw a material metaphor for coral reef ecosystems in this state of bleaching: fragile and requiring extra care. Worn on the body, the works allow viewers to imagine the endangered biological structures as extensions of themselves, cultivating empathy for the other.
