Shimara Carlow's works are highly textured and tactile, and each piece is handmade and completely unique.
Shimara was born in the remote coastal area of West Cork in Southern Ireland. A childhood fascination for collecting shells, stones, mermaid's purses, feathers and seed pods found along the sea shore has been the inspiration for her work. After studying jewellery making in Glasgow and setting up a studio in London, Shimara relocated to Melbourne.
“My collections at Artisan are the most botanical collections I make, taking a lot of inspiration from Australian flora, in particular gum nuts and gum leaves.” Shimara Carlow
