About Anne Harris:

Anne has been working with plants intensively for the last 8 years, initially starting with natural dyeing and fibre weaving and now exploring performative approaches using inks and the spirit connections of plants, place and people. She shares the knowledge of traditional and experimental techniques and is fascinated by the role of women in history and the pre-written forms of record keeping and embodiment of knowledge. Included in her creative journey is the story of a 1000 year old tree, who she worked with for three years, and more recently she has spent time in Far North Queensland with the Women of Hope Vale collaborating on the #bushdye project.

The path to becoming an artist has had many twists and changes, initially training as a fashion designer, and then pursuing other avenues, including a Certificate in Fine Art (Drawing), Sculpture at Tom Bass and the foundation year of a Bachelor in Fine Art at Sydney's College of the Arts (majoring in glass) and various other workshops and master classes to learn the art of craft. She now divides her time between her creative practice and the study of women's mysteries, each informing the other.

Anne is a RAD and RADF grant recipient and shortlisted for the Waterhouse Natural Art Prize, Craft Biennial Scotland, Cambridge Portrait Prize , Milburn Art Prize, Moreton Bay Art Award, The Churchie National Emerging Art Prize and Founder of "Tree Place" a community creative project collaborating with an ancient tree.
