Class one - Thursday 25 July 

Class two - Thursday 1 August 

Time: 6:00 – 8:00pm

Where:  artisan, 45 King Street, Bowen Hills, QLD 4006 

Cost: $150 per person, limited to eight places 

About the workshop:

Make your own ceramic mementos with Kylie Johnson from paper boat press. Kylie will guide you through the process of making her signature objects, but you will be creating them with your own personal twist. This will involve trying a number of different processes and you will have time to make up to six! The finished mementos have a flat back they can be used as a brooch, magnet or ornament.

In class one you will plan and design, then make using carving, cutting, stamping and sculpting techniques. Your clay pieces will be left to dry until next week.

In class two, your work will be ready for colour. Try a variety of techniques to finish your pieces. 

Finally, Kylie will kiln fire the pieces and they will be available for you to collect in the following week.

Skill Level: no experience necessary

Included in workshop ticket:

  • Make up to six ceramic brooches, ornaments or magnets 
  • All materials
  • Kiln firing
  • Apron
  • Tuition with two Kylie Johnson from paper boat press
  • Light refreshments

You need to bring:

  • Please wear closed shoes
  • Bring your own apron if you prefer

About Kylie Johnson and paper boat press 

paper boat press is a boutique ceramic studio of Kylie Johnson in Brisbane, Australia. Kylie has worked with clay for over 25 years and her work sells in stores and gallery stores all over Australia.  Over the past 15 years paper boat press has been making their signature quote tags, Christmas ornaments and ceramic jewellery.

 In 2012 Kylie opened a gallery in Ashgrove that focuses on object based work, with an emphasis on ceramics, the gallery also hold a full collection of paper boat press wares. Through out the year, Kylie curates up to four solo exhibitions of fellow potters’ work

.

Workshop Cancellation Policy:

Please note this workshop can be cancelled by  artisan due to unforeseen circumstances or if minimum numbers are not reached. In this event participants will be refunded accordingly and as soon as possible.

Participant Cancellation Policy:

Workshops have limited spaces and involve preparation by the facilitator.

Please note this workshop is run over two sessions. There will be no discounts or refunds for partial attendance.

Bookings cancelled up to one week prior to the start of the workshop may be refunded, but a 20% non-refundable administration fee will be deducted.

Bookings cancelled within a week of the first workshop commencing will NOT be refunded.

You are welcome to transfer your booking to another person prior to the workshop commencing. Please confirm this arrangement in writing to workshop@artisan.org.au.
