LITTLE BIG THINGS

LITTLE BIG THINGS

Main Gallery and Small Object Space

12 February 2022 – 13 April 2022

Place, identity, culture and survival are some of the commonly explored themes in traditional and contemporary Australian indigenous art. In the right hands, anything can become a vessel for storytelling and a repository for meaning. This exhibition comes from a fascination with, and a deep respect for first nation practitioners’ unique approach to the materials in their works.  Each work contains a story of significance. Every story deserves to be told.

The artists in this exhibition come from various walks of life, their commonality is that they identify as first nations practitioners with a unique approach to the embodied meaning in their materials.
In consultation with Barkindji man, artist and curator Kent Morris; the exhibition attempts to frame the curatorial presentation somewhat differently, to raise and answer questions about agency, erasure, privilege and success.
