FLESH TIMBRE

Machinery St Gallery | 2 December 2023 - 17 Jan 2024 | Opening event: Friday 1 December, 6 pm – 8 pm
Artist: MAXX BUBB
Medium: Textiles – Site Installation
Meanjin based multi-disciplinary artist Maxx Bubb seeks to interpret contemporary experience and generate a new meaning through pattern, connectivity and familiarity. Flesh Timbre is a process-led exploration of identity, combining seemingly extraneous elements and techniques with invented symbols and personal references. This sprawling tapestry of hand stitched lines, domestic textiles and fragments of printed and painted rag paper, draw together references from fine art, urban skate culture, domesticity, high fashion and pseudo augury.
Maxx Bubb graduated with a BFA from Queensland College of Art in 2021, combining interdisciplinary Drawing with minor studies in Jewellery and Small Objects. Maxx explores multiple mediums including textiles and has cultivated a strong jewellery practice, with an emphasis on alternative casting techniques.
