Fiona Harding - Slow To The Trees

MACHINERY ST | 16 December 2024 - 25 January 2025

Artist: Fiona Harding

Fiona Harding, the winner of the 40 Under 40 Exhibition & Art Prize 2024 - 3D Prize, will present her sculptural practice at artisan Machinery Street Gallery.

Exhibition: Slow To The Trees

Slow To The Trees is a site-specific installation by artist Fiona Harding. Everything in the exhibition has been drawn, cut, shaped, or sewn by the artist. Slow processes of making are employed as an antithesis to fast-paced capitalist productivity. The words 'slow to the trees', spelt out in Harding's handwriting, arose from a lucid dream and a recent heightened fascination with trees. The work seeks to acknowledge trees as ancient beings, whose wisdom and existence long predate humanity. Interconnectivity is a recurring theme in Harding's practice and is explored in the work. The installation attempts to create a conscious connection between the audience and the surrounding trees and to foster an ongoing awareness.
