Bestiary is a contemporary craft and design version of a medieval compendium of beasts. Bestiaries were made popular in the Middle Ages in illustrated volumes that described various animals and even rocks. The natural history and illustration of each beast were usually accompanied by a moral lesson.
From conceptual art to decorated functional ware, animals have played a significant role in our visual culture. This ambitious exhibition explores the role animals play in our crafted and designed lives, and looks to glean the lessons our fellow creatures are teaching.
