Marketplace transforms the exhibition space into a pop up market, pairing local makers with local food producers. By looking back at early crafts such as artisan baking and fermentation including brewing and cheese making, Marketplace re-establishes their connection with craft. findoutmore

Marketplace Closing Soiree

We are really looking forward to the Marketplace Closing Soiree, Friday July 10th 5:30pm – 8:00 pm.  Come along to sample artisan refreshments, enjoy craft demonstrations and topical speakers. Exhibitors will be both showcasing their produce and offering their wares for sale, from tableware to beeswax complete with honey. findoutmore

artisan are eager to provide more opportunities for the public to meet artists and hear their stories, so in 2014 we introduced what has proven to be the very popular, Meet the Maker series. This behind-the-scenes look at creative practice has seen each maker’s work selling off the shelves as visitors acknowledge the special quality that only a handmade product can provide.

2014 saw a continuation of the established partnership between the Australian Craft and Design Centres (ACDC) and the National Association for the Visual Arts (NAVA) through the activities of the National Craft Initiative, including the commission of a report investigating the nature of Australian craft and design. findoutmore

As a twist on the usual exhibition format, the artists, designers and craftspeople of Queensland have determined the content of this exhibition series. Chain Reaction 2 continues the chain started in the first instalment of the exhibition in 2014, where two initial artists each selected another two artists who inspire and influence their practice, and these artists in turn nominated another two. findoutmore
